Teachers to Watch: Spring Channel Refresh Challenge

At Skillshare, a cohesive channel brand is an essential component of building an engaged student following.

We’re excited to announce our Teachers to Watch: Spring Channel Refresh Challenge! This two-week challenge is designed to help you update your channel to represent your brand and who you are as a teacher. Following our best practices for channel branding, we encourage you to update your Skillshare profile.

Here are a few things to consider when updating your channel brand:

  • Teacher Bio: Students want to learn about you and your background. It builds credibility for you as an expert in your field. Be sure to include links to your blog, portfolio, and social media accounts. For an example of a noteworthy teacher bio, check out Top Teacher Ira Marck’s channel.

  • Incorporate Multiple Sections: Consider adding sections that would interest your students, such as reviews from your classes, ways to connect with you outside of Skillshare, your favorite student projects, or updates and announcements. Check out Kiley Bennett’s channel to see how she incorporates multiple sections.

  • Visuals: Consider places to add visual interest to your profile. For example, add a photo of yourself in your work-space, create images for the different sections of your profile, or upload images of your work. Head to Melissa Wiederrecht’s channel to see how she’s added visual interest with header images.

  • Consistent Cover Images: Consider updating your class cover images to follow a similar style or look to create visual consistency. Check out Top Teacher Tabitha Parks’s channel for an example of consistent cover images.
