Skillshare Advertising Semester kicks off this month in NYC, Boston and San Francisco. We’ve curated a broad selection of classes that reflect the many facets of advertising, and recruited creative and passionate teachers to share their skills with you.

New York City

Wednesday, June 13th & Tuesday, July 10th, 7 – 8:30pm, Exploring the Creative Process

In his first-ever Skillshare class, Creative Director Floyd Hayes of Cunning shares how to develop and access creativity within your inner self.

Tuesday, June 19th & Wednesday, July 11th, 7 – 9:00pm, How to Get a Job as a Copywriter

Master Teacher Grace Bello shares the ins and outs of how to break into copywriting.

Wednesday, June 20th & Wednesday, July 25th, 7 – 9pm, How to Explain an Idea 

Work out your ideas with VP of Brand Strategy Mark Pollard of Big Spaceship. In two hours, you’ll practice explaining other people’s ideas and most importantly, make your own.

Wednesday, June 20th & Monday, July 16th 7:30 - 9pm, How to Become an Advertising Art Director

This introductory course with Chris Ramirez explores the basics of Art Direction – from flushing out your ideas to establishing branding guidelines. 

Monday, June 25th, 6:30 – 8pm, Consumer Insights Made Simple 

In this class, Britta Schell reveals all the basics of empowering yourself through consumer insights. Students will develop a consumer insights methodology with feedback/recommendations. 

Monday, June 25th and Wednesday, July 23rd 7:30 – 9pm, Campaign Building

Art Director Chris Ramirez explores the creative process as it relates to building advertising campaigns. You’ll work collaboratively in a group setting to develop creative solutions for an existing brand’s identity or marketing problem. 

Tuesday, June 26th, 7 – 8:30pm, Addicted to the Game: Gamification and Brands 

Join Creative Director Stan Chin of Anomaly as he discusses gamification techniques to drive user engagement.

Wednesday, June 27th, 7 – 8:30pm, Guerrilla and Grassroots 

Creative Director Floyd Hayes of Cunning shares everything you need to know about the ins and outs of Guerilla and Grassroots Marketing, from little to no cost.

Saturday, July 7th, 1 – 5pm, Straterday - A Strategy Workout for Your Mind 

Join Mark Pollard of Big Spaceship in this four hour class and you’ll walk out with all you need to know about strategy and ideas.

Monday, July 16th, 7-8:30pm, Grassroots Marketing

Account Director Stanley Lumax of Anomaly shares how to create an effective grassroots message to get people talking.

Tuesday, July 24th, 7-8:30pm, Presentation Skills and Pitch Strategy 

Dynamic Marketing professional Schari Paul covers everything you need to know to succesfully sell your ideas and services.

Tuesday, July 24th (7-8:30pm), How to Write Better Copy

This class is for copywriters, social media managers, and anyone else who writes to sell. Join Master Teacher Grace Bello to learn how to write strong, pithy subject lines, taglines, and more!

Tuesday, July 31st, 7-8:30pm, Copywriting: How to sell your stuff and Not Your Soul

In this crash course, Master teacher Jeff Ramos will expose you to copywriting strategies to get people to buy your work without being “salesy.” 

Wednesday, August 8th, 7 - 8:30pm, Culture as a Competitive Advantage

Join Ozioma Egwuonwu as she introduces you to the emerging discipline of Cultural Strategy and gain insight as to how companies can apply Cultural Strategy techniques towards new products and services. 

Wednesday, August 22nd, 7:00 - 8:45pm, How to Activate Your Fan Base
