Skillshare Team is Growing

Skillshare Retreat (Fall 2011): Woodstock, New York

It’s been a busy summer for the Skillshare team! We released some new cool features (with many more on the roadmap), closed a round of financing, and added some remarkable folks to our product and community teams. We’re thrilled to announce the latest hires for Skillshare!

Chris Boardman (@chrisboardman) joined our team as our first Web Developer. I met Chris at The Feast Conference when he and Dom approached me with an iPhone idea they wanted to launch at the conference. It happened to be 3-up and became a huge hit. Previously, Chris worked as a developer at The Barbarian Group.

Andrew Mercando (@merc), a.k.a. Lil’ Merc, joins Jake Przespo as another Product Designer. Extremely talented, he worked as a Senior Interaction Designer at R/GA where he worked on Nike+ and Converse. He’s also an amazing toy designer and worked at Fool’s Gold Records, which is probably why he always listens to DJ A-Trak.

Peter Boyce (@badboyboyce) spent the summer as our Founder Apprentice. Unfortunately, he had to go back to Harvard to finish out his degree but will be working with us throughout the school year to grow Boston and work on various biz dev opportunities. Previously, he worked with Puffy at Bad Boy Records. In tribute, we play Bad Boy’s 10th Anniversary Hits every week in the office.

Stephen Yang (@stephenayang) replaces Peter as the new Founder Apprentice. He’ll be working with me on everything from launching new cities to marketing to operations to community building. Previously, Stephen worked as an intern at I/A Ventures, General Assembly, and Charity : Water.

Eric Ma (@erma87) joins our team today as our second Web Developer with Malcolm and Chris. Previously, Eric worked at Jumo with Chris Hughes. He’s also the only one on the Skillshare team known to “Omar” someone in Catan by dropping a monopoly card after 15+ “rocks” went out on one turn. “Omar’s coming yo!”

David Xia (@easily__amused) is our latest hire who joins as another Web Developer. He taught himself how to code in less than 6 months and launched shoutbound with a friend. We’re suckers for remarkable folks that are lifelong learners.

We take our company culture very seriously and strive to build world-class teams. There’s nothing more powerful than a strong team moving cohesively in the right direction (like the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls). You can view the full team on Twitter.

We’re currently building out our community team so please apply if you’re interested in joining Skillshare!
