Teach Online and Achieve Your Goals This Fall

We love the fall. It’s a perfect time to step-back, reflect, and reset some goals before the year is up. Have you learned something new? Supported a cause you care about? Hit your financial goals? It’s not too late!

1. Earn extra cash

With the holidays coming, everyone likes to have a bit of extra cash on hand. Good news is that there are a number of ways to make this happen. The holidays are a great time to sell lightly-used goods – tons of people are looking for gifts! Try posting on Ebay or Craigslist. If you would rather sell homemade goods or crafts, check out Etsy. If you don’t have anything to sell, look into becoming an affiliate marketer for a site you love.  As an affiliate for a website or blog, you will be paid for placing promotions on your own online channels.

2. Grow your community

For personal and professional reasons, it’s always great to meet new people and grow your network. If you would rather meet people offline, check out a MeetUp or CreativeMorning lecture in your area. If you prefer to meet people online – there are endless online communities you can join. Tons of people have a Twitter and Facebook account, but joining more specific online communities can also be a great way to meet people with shared interests. Slack, a team collaboration tool centered around online chat, has channels for every sort of community. There are dozens of websites like this one designed to help you find the channel that meets your needs.

3. Give back

With the end of the year coming up, consider raising money for a cause that’s important to you. The startup CrowdRise is making it easier than ever to mobilize for a cause. If you aren’t up for raising money, consider raising awareness by sharing important social messages with your community on Twitter or Facebook.

4. Learn something new

It’s never too late to broaden your horizons or to pick up a new skill or hobby. Podcasts are very popular and great if you are an audible learner or have a long commute. Check out RadioLab for science podcasts or In Our Time for history lectures. If you have been meaning to pick up a book, Audible, Amazon’s audiobook store, has a great 30 day free trial and books on every possible subject. Lastly, if you are feeling creative and looking to take on a new skill such as Calligraphy or Web Design, check out a class on Skillshare.

Want to earn extra cash, grow your community, give back, and learn something new all at once?

5. Teach online

Teach on Skillshare! Top teachers make up to $40,000 a year and watercolor teacher Ana Victoria Calderon earned $3000 in her first month teaching on the platform. When asked why she taught, Skillshare teacher Faye Brown said: “For me, the audience and the quality of people that I’ve encountered on Skillshare—what they’re doing, what projects they’ve worked on, what companies they’ve started—those connections have been invaluable.” On top of it all, when teachers publish their first class through the Teach Challenge program, they receive a free year of Skillshare membership and access to almost 9,000 classes covering every possible topic.

So what are you waiting for? No time like the present to make the most of the end of your year.
